Luminarias 2026

Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival is a major public arts festival in San Antonio that brings together visual art, performance, music, film, dance, and large-scale installations in a free nighttime celebration of contemporary art. It presents work by local, national, and international artists while highlighting San Antonio’s cultural landscape.

For Luminaria Casso is creating a suspended installation of illuminated paper bells with key-shaped clappers. Inspired by the historic bells of the San Antonio Missions and the visual traditions of papel picado and hanging lanterns, the installation transforms the bell into a symbol of memory, place, and gathering. Suspended overhead and illuminated at night, the bells create a glowing passage rooted in the history and visual culture of San Antonio.
