I
Artists will begin with hands-on exploration of color mixing and brush-handling basics before putting those skills into practice through open-ended painting. They’ll have time to paint whatever they can imagine, with visual resources and materials available to inspire experimentation and creativity. Each artist will create an 8 × 10 painting, along with drawings and mixed-media works. All artwork goes home with the artist.
Painting
Artists will work with both Model Magic and air-dry clay, exploring the possibilities of building, shaping, and sculpting in three dimensions. The workshop begins with a drawing and brainstorming activity before moving into open-ended studio time, where artists can develop their own ideas using clay tools and an assortment of additional materials to encourage experimentation. Each artist takes their creations home.
Sculpture Culture
Artists will explore two different printmaking processes: gel printing and Styrofoam relief printing. Through artist-led demonstrations, they’ll learn the techniques and challenges of creating prints, layering images, working with ink and experimenting with the unexpected results that are part of the printmaking process. Artists will have time to create multiple original prints and take their artwork home.

Meet the Artist
I’m Alex Casso, a San Antonio-based artist, filmmaker, and educator with more than 15 years of experience in art and education.
I started The Art Catering to bring quality art education directly to people. I believe creativity is innate in all of us, but accessing it requires a real experience—the chance to work with materials, experiment, make choices, take risks, and discover something for yourself. My role is to create the conditions for that experience and bring it directly to your table.
